Business: Changing Visions to Reality

Taipans and business tycoons did not become successful overnight. They had somewhere to start, and they had visualized a goal that they later developed gradually into reality. What one needs is a clear idea of what one wants to become, and the determination to accomplish it. If one can visualize the goal, the chances of achieving it are far greater than having to start off without any ambition at all.

Of course, no vision can be made real unless there is work applied, not only for the sake of making money, but for the sake of both happiness and success merged into one. Without finding happiness in what one is doing, the passion to continue on and progress will be absent, and the whole business will go down eventually. There are more conditions required to take on a business other than just having a goal. One must know what to follow to move ahead and succeed in improving themselves and their lives.

One of the factors that may help in the realization of one’s aspirations would be the support from others. No business was built strong by one person alone. There has to be assistance and mutual aid from others who share your goals, or just people who are willing to help out. They may be friends, family, or complete strangers that may soon turn out to be good partners both in business and in life.

Unlike the belief of many people, connections to people on top of the industry would do little or nothing to help you get there. They may have the resources to help one’s business in progressing, but the lack of knowledge in handling these resources might be more risky than one may think. Exploiting these connections will only make you a victim of the dog-eat-dog system of the business world.

Aside from peer support, a person needs to adhere to and instill certain good work values in their business enterprise. These values will further help out by building good relations with your workers, or partners and colleagues, as well as help maintain a steady growth for the soon-to-be company. The most well-known of these values would of course be determination and hard work.

This means that there would be no substitute to hard work in attaining success. Hard work and determination never meant draining oneself, but it has something to do with work orientation. It isn’t about finishing more tasks in a limited time, but it simply means finding meaning and excitement in what one is doing. To be hardworking, one must not merely do the work for the sake of it, but find self-fulfillment in the process.

Another requirement for success would be patience and dedication to work. Both values must be reinforced with one another to be more effective in establishing business. This means avoiding too much unnecessary socializations and devoting more time to doing the tasks well and improving the enterprise. This dedication needs patience to flourish. After all, stalls don’t become big corporations overnight, but takes years and years of decision-making and risk-taking.

Sometimes, the reason why the business stays on the bottom of the industry is that the proprietor was too afraid to take risks that would be essential for further business growth. Along the way of continuing the enterprise would be roadblocks, challenges that might seem impossible to solve. But taking the risk means having the ability to confront the problems face to face. Most of these problems, after all, are just new opportunities that business owners are too afraid to get hold of. To get one step closer to success, one should make a decisive move as opportunities come, for one might not have the same opportunities again.

Problems are, more often than not, the sources of such risk-taking. Every business proprietor must know that problems must not be ignored, no matter how small they are. All problems must be addressed immediately to avoid making matters worse. Strategic planning and decision making is all that is needed to turn any problem into a great opportunity.

Those who are not willing to take risks never get to move forward, although one must of course assess carefully the advantages and disadvantages of actually taking hold of the opportunity. Making decisions hastily would only complicate matters for the business. Before making any action, the people involved in the business and the new opportunity must anticipate the outcome of every choice of action they have.

Great accomplishments are results of careful planning, although there are times that they result from unexpected events that bring about new opportunities for the business. These accomplishments do not need to be big, as every one of them, no matter how small and worthless as they might seem, add up into a big improvement for the whole enterprise.

Venturing in business also needs lots of positive energy and optimism. Self-worth is most definitely the source of either success or failure in whatever endeavor in life. To be able to achieve ultimate success in the development of the business, one should nurture a positive image of himself and a happy attitude towards work.

Many who fail in their business ventures do not have a positive outlook in life. These people think that they are victims of the unjust society, thus becoming negative distrustful people. These negative vibes often have a bad effect on the performance of the person and his relationship with all the people involved in the business.

In order to ensure the stability of the organization, the head of the business must ensure that his workers are the effective kind, and not those who are low in performance. After all, for the whole to be effective, not even one tiny part of it must be inefficient.

Effective performers in the business group are those who are optimistic. They are people who find extreme contentment in completing complicated jobs, and are thrilled when challenging tasks are laid upon their tables. They put their love of the job first and put their want of income second, for it is getting the job done that is important to them and not how much doing the job can pay them. These competent workers become highly uncomfortable whenever there is little to do at work. They are most likely to bring on the success of the whole group, since they do things carefully because they want to achieve something, and not because they are told to do so.

On the other hand, inefficient workers are those who are full of complaints, even before doing the job. They tend to develop and raise a lot of reasons why they most probably could not finish the job on time, nor even finish the job at all. They look at their jobs as chores, and as very unpleasant things to be done. They often take on jobs with higher pay, and they would not bother accepting jobs that pay little when it comes to their standards.

There are lots of ways in which the business group can ensure that all of their workers are highly efficient. They can put up support groups that will help reinforce positive values into every one of them. Seminars and regular staff meetings can also improve everyone’s work output. Giving rewards and incentives to very productive members can serve as a motivation for other workers to give it their best to their work. Making sure that everyone’s needs are met will surely help the whole enterprise develop indirectly, but surely.

No business would endure without the basic work force. This would mean as little as two persons to as many as about a thousand people. But keeping the workplace intact would mean that teamwork is needed. Cooperation between the workers is what really facilitates success in the business. It is teamwork that that helps thing get done faster and a lot better. There should be positive participation in all group activities within the business group to facilitate good quality and productivity.

During the growth of a business, good relationships must be developed between the head of the business and his workers, and between everyone in the group. Each one of them must reach out to one another and to the people outside the group. Although intimate relationships should really be avoided since it might serve as a distraction from doing their work efficiently. Good relationships between workers of the group will help in resolving problems and in sharing of new ideas for the progress of the business.

Effective management would be another very important factor in determining the outcome of the enterprise. The head must ensure that everyone is doing their job well. He must set an example as to what others should follow, for instance, the simple task of being an emotionally and socially healthy person. He must display feelings of enthusiasm towards work, for such things spread out very quickly. He must also learn how to listen to dilemmas and how to openly accept good suggestions, as well as filter out any that may endanger the safety and health of anyone.

Whether the manager or the owner of the business likes it or not, all workers will constantly analyze and judge his actions. In particular, they will keep watch to make sure that the leader’s actions match his words and commitments to everyone. To involve all people deeply in improving their performances, the person in charge must exceed all expectations of what a leader should be.

The one who manages should cultivate trust among all members of the workplace, including himself. Trust is very essential especially since an objective of the whole business group cannot be fulfilled unless everyone follows through on their commitments. With trust-building, everyone will be able to achieve more of their potential as individuals, thus making greatly expanded contributions to the whole enterprise.

All businesses are established not for the owner, but for the consumers, which is why for the business to flourish, the owner must know how to walk in the customer’s shoes. The people involved in the business must understand their market and have the courage to do what is necessary. And what is necessary is to treat customers with trust, dignity, respect and joy. Everything done should convey a message about how the business group feels about others and about themselves.

The business must offer, at all times, excellent products or services at affordable prices. These are the two musts that the consumers are referring to when they look for value in an item or service. The growth in sales has little to do with beating your competitors, but they have much to do with the way the customers are treated.

You gain more when your customers leave your store or area feeling more important than when they arrived. This is achieved by looking into their needs as a whole. For example, in a boutique, you put up comfy chairs for those who had an exhausting day shopping, or you set up a children’s play area to help your consumer concentrate more on what she wants to buy instead of having to think of what to do with an impatient child.

Customers don’t care about the benefits you can provide as much as you do. This means that you must know the needs of the customers and address them. Loyal and returning customers are oftentimes those who are satisfied when their needs have been met. Benefits are the things you provide to your market that should satisfy their needs. There is no point in gaining a benefit from a product or service when the necessity will not be fulfilled.

Venturing into business and developing what was once envisioned takes a lot from the people involved. There are many odds and difficulties to be overcome to realize one’s goals when business is involved. Time, dedication, and values that are often ignored are just some of the requirements in bringing our goals into reality. In the long run, patience, enjoyment and a lot of optimism is what really makes one’s gamble into business a successful one.

GMA offers Pardon for former president Estrada

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo recently has offered a pardon for former president Joseph Estrada. But will the former president accept this pardon to be able to go back to his life?

To accept the offer would mean that he has lowered his pride and indirectly admitted his involvement in graft and corruption. Would he sacrifice this just to get back to the life he enjoyed back then? If I were him, and I know that I have done nothing wrong at all, I would never give in to the offer. It's another plot of the president to turn all the blame to Mr. Estrada, as well as get the sympathy of the opposition and all of Estrada's supporters. That would give her more power, now, wouldn't it?

Just a thought, but we'll know soon if Estrada is guilty of the crime.

Not only are the cupcakes so heavenly to taste, they are quite attractive to look at. These "cupcakes" are actually mini pies, custards and tarts disguised as cupcakes. Lots of flavor, lots of fun.

Though Most of their products are pricey, I loved them and thought that the price was a little worth it.

I would definitely recommend Berries N' Cream, a brown butter almond cake with fresh strawberries topping and whipped cream icing! Yummy!

Glorietta, Under Attack?

Up until now, people are asking: what did happen?

The explosion of Glorietta 2 shook the peace in Metro Manila. Are the so called threats coming from Mindanao true? Have they really taken the war to the capital region of the country?

And a new tragedy has sprung, right from under peoples' noses. Fire burned yet another part of the famous Glorietta Mall. Text messages furiously spread about wildly about all Ayala Corporations and Ayala Malls are subject to bombing. I have the hunch that these text messages are from people who have nothing to do but wreak havoc in our country. But still, it pays to be careful.

Situations just got a lot more complicated with the nearing of Christmas. Controversies concerning our president being involved in the terrorism sprung out of nowhere.

Nevertheless, e all just have to be careful. Be alert, and watch out for suspicious behavior.

Breakups and Suicide

A guy friend once asked me if it was pointless to continue on in a relationship if one has lost all feelings for the other. Well, the answer is obviously a big fat NO.

But behind every obvious question is a not-so-obvious reason. His girl had attempted suicide. Ah, the typical breakup story.

Well, in this case the girl was actually receiving no support from her family and friends. She is undergoing all pressures of being an independent college freshman, and all she has was her guy to depend on. As she said,

I would die without him.


I might seem insensitive, but this was the advice I gave him:

The best thing to do would be to leave her. It's bad enough that she lives her life only through you. Don't make things worse. She'd know eventually that you don't love her anymore.


Well, the girl needs to live her life on her own. She needs to learn that the world would never revolve around her guy, and that there are more to this world than an immature relationship. Her attempt to commit suicide is fact alone that the relationship has taught her badly.
